While the strategic restructuring has resulted in a reduction in community outreach officers, the department remains committed to being actively engaged with the Arlington Community. A new Community Outreach Unit has been created to promote community-based partnerships and foster police interaction and cooperation with those we serve.
For ease of contact, the Community Outreach Unit has been divided into two teams; a North Arlington Team and a South Arlington Team. The teams will no longer attend individual community, civic and homeowner association meetings, but will host North / South quarterly meetings. The outreach teams will continue to engage with the community, conduct seasonal donation drives, work proactively with businesses and commercial areas and assist with proactive patrol and crime prevention initiatives.
