Parking Ticket Appeals

Option 1: Pay Citation
There is a $25 late fee if the payment is not received within 30 days from the date the citation was issued.

Option 2: Contest in Court
Per Arlington County Code §14.2-95, your intent to contest a citation must be submitted within 30 days from the date the citation was issued.

Option 3: County Decal violation
If you wish to appeal a ticket issued for no county decal or expired county decal, you should first appeal to the Treasurer’s Office by email at treasureroperations@arlingtonva.us or by phone at 703-228-3090. Your appeal should include the violation number, license plate number, violation date, your name and contact information and a brief statement explaining why you are contesting the violation. If the Treasurer’s Office is unable to dismiss your ticket you may contest it in court.

Option 4: Compliance Issues (Expired or no state inspection: expired or no state registration)
If you received a ticket for a violation of any of the offenses listed in Arlington County Code § 14.2-2.A.1-2 (expired or no state inspection; expired or no state registration), and the issue had not existed for more than 90 days at the time of the citation, you may bring your ticket, photo ID, and proof of compliance to the Arlington County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office for dismissal at 1425 N. Courthouse Road, Suite 5200, Arlington, VA 22201. Mon-Fri 8:30am-5pm.

Option 5: Report a Broken Meter
Per Arlington County Code §14.2-95, your intent to contest a citation must be submitted within 30 days from the date the citation was issued.

Option 6: If you used an iPark or EasyPark device to pay for parking and received a citation relating to your iPark or EasyPark device, contact the Treasurer’s Office at 2100 Clarendon Blvd, 703-228-3090 or by email at: treasureroperations@arlingtonva.us. A multi-space meter receipt is not an iPark or EasyPark device.
